It was originally developed by the Swiss natural health pioneer Alfred Vogel in his clinic. The product is unique for its infusion process, where freshly harvested organic herbs and vegetables are steeped in sea salt for several months to integrate their flavors and aromas fully.

While the brand has its roots in Switzerland, the actual production of Herbamare takes place in Colmar, France. This location was specifically chosen by Alfred Vogel because of its proximity to the salt marshes of the Camargue (Aigues-Mortes) in southern France, where the unrefined sea salt is harvested, and its ideal agricultural conditions for growing the organic herbs used in the blend.

Today, the brand is owned by A.Vogel AG (formerly Bioforce AG), an independent company headquartered in Switzerland. The company remains dedicated to the principles of its founder, with a significant controlling interest held by the Alfred Vogel Foundation, ensuring the brand continues to operate with a focus on natural health and sustainable organic practices.
