Maltesers are a globally recognized confectionery product characterized by their signature malted milk centers enrobed in a layer of smooth milk chocolate. Originally created in 1936 by Forrest Mars Sr. in Slough, England, the brand was officially launched in 1937. Initially marketed toward women with the slogan "The lighter way to enjoy chocolate," it has since grown into one of the most popular candy brands in the world, particularly in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada.

Ownership of the brand resides with Mars, Incorporated, a massive American multinational that remains one of the largest privately held companies in the world. While the brand has deep British roots and its primary historical manufacturing base is in Slough, England, production has expanded significantly to meet global demand.

Today, Maltesers are manufactured in multiple locations, including Newmarket, Ontario, for the North American market and Ballarat, Australia, for the Oceania region. The brand continues to innovate under the Mars Wrigley division, recently introducing dark and white chocolate variants to its classic lineup as of 2025 and 2026.
