ASKO is a premium global brand rooted in Scandinavian design and engineering. The company's story began in 1950 in Jung, Sweden, when Karl-Erik Andersson built a superior washing machine for his mother. Originally known as Junga Verkstäder, the company evolved through various ownerships, including the Finnish furniture company Asko (from which it takes its current name) and the Italian Merloni Group.

Today, ASKO is part of the Hisense Europe Group. While its management and research and development (R&D) centers remain in Lidköping, Sweden, to maintain its Scandinavian heritage, manufacturing was largely moved to Slovenia following its acquisition by the Gorenje Group in 2010. Gorenje itself was later acquired by the Chinese multinational Hisense in 2018. Consequently, ASKO operates as a high-end brand under the ultimate ownership of Hisense, combining Swedish design principles with global manufacturing capabilities.
