Dickies is a legendary American brand that specializes in rugged workwear and streetwear. Founded in 1922 in Fort Worth, Texas, by C. N. Williamson and E. E. 'Colonel' Dickie as the Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Company, it initially produced bib overalls for laborers. During World War II, the company significantly expanded its reputation by manufacturing millions of uniforms for the U.S. Armed Forces.
While the brand was born and historically headquartered in Texas, its manufacturing has expanded globally over the decades. Today, Dickies products are manufactured in multiple countries, including Mexico, China, and various locations across Asia and the Middle East, to support its worldwide distribution network.
In late 2025, a significant shift in ownership occurred. After being owned by VF Corporation since 2017, the brand was sold to Bluestar Alliance, a leading global brand management firm based in New York. This acquisition marks a new chapter for Dickies as it joins a portfolio that includes other notable lifestyle and fashion brands, aiming to further integrate its heritage workwear with modern global streetwear trends.
