The brand is famously named after the 2,500-year-old city of Cholula in Puebla. In November 2020, the brand underwent a significant transition when it was acquired by the American spice giant McCormick & Company for approximately $800 million. Under McCormick's ownership, the brand has expanded its retail presence significantly.
