Cérébos table salt

Cérébos is an iconic salt brand with a rich history dating back to 1892. It was originally invented by George Weddell, a Scottish chemist in England, who revolutionized the market by adding calcium phosphate to salt, creating the world's first free-flowing table salt. The brand is famously recognized for its illustration of a young boy chasing a bird, inspired by the old folk belief that a bird could be caught by putting salt on its tail.

In France, Cérébos has a strong local identity. Since its establishment in the country in 1902, the product has been deeply rooted in the Lorraine region. Today, the salt is primarily produced and packaged at the Dombasle-sur-Meurthe saline in northeastern France, maintaining a "Made in France" heritage. The brand ownership is fragmented globally; while Kraft Heinz owns the rights in Asia-Pacific and Oceania, the Western European operations, including the French brand, are owned by the German salt specialist K+S Group (Kali und Salz AG).
