Salter is widely recognized as the United Kingdom's oldest housewares brand, with a history dating back to 1760. Originally established by Richard Salter in the village of Bilston, England, the company began by manufacturing spring scales. Over the centuries, it expanded its portfolio to include a wide range of precision weighing instruments and household electricals. Historically, the brand's employees were even responsible for the formation of the West Bromwich Albion Football Club.
In 2021, the brand was fully acquired by Ultimate Products, a Manchester-based consumer goods giant, for £34 million. Prior to this acquisition, Ultimate Products had already been licensing the brand for cookware and electrical products for over a decade. Today, while the brand maintains its British heritage and design headquarters in Oldham, Greater Manchester, its manufacturing operations are global, primarily utilizing facilities in Asia to supply international markets including Europe and Australia.
