Glico Mikado Milch Schokolade

Mikado is a popular chocolate-coated biscuit stick that originated from a joint venture between the Japanese company Ezaki Glico and the French biscuit manufacturer LU (Lefèvre-Utile). Launched in Europe in 1983, it is the European version of Glico's world-famous Japanese snack, Pocky. The name 'Mikado' was chosen because the thin chocolate sticks resemble the sticks used in the traditional game of Mikado.

Today, the brand is primarily managed and manufactured in Europe by Mondelēz International under license from Ezaki Glico. The main production facility is located in Cestas, France, near Bordeaux, where billions of sticks are produced annually for the European market. Mondelēz, a global snacks giant based in the United States, acquired the LU brand (and the Mikado partnership) through its predecessor Kraft Foods' acquisition of Danone's biscuit division in 2007.
