Bähncke Klassisk Sennep is a staple Danish condiment with a history dating back to 1858 when Wilhelm Bähncke founded the company in Denmark. Originally starting with mustard and vinegar, Bähncke has grown into one of Denmark's most iconic food brands, particularly famous for its association with the Danish 'pølsevogn' (hot dog stand) culture. The brand is known for maintaining traditional recipes and craftsmanship, with production primarily centered in Denmark to ensure authentic quality.

In 2013, the brand became part of the Norwegian conglomerate Orkla ASA following Orkla's acquisition of the Rieber & Søn group. Today, Bähncke is managed under the Orkla Denmark division. Orkla is a leading supplier of branded consumer goods in the Nordic and Baltic regions, and it continues to oversee the production and distribution of Bähncke’s extensive range of cold sauces, dressings, and its famous crispy fried onions alongside the classic mustard varieties.
