Zeeman is a prominent Dutch discount retail chain that specializes in textiles and basic clothing. Founded in 1967 by Jan Zeeman in Alphen aan den Rijn, Netherlands, the brand was built on the philosophy that good quality clothing and textiles do not need to be expensive. The company's 'supermarket' approach to clothing retail was revolutionary at the time and allowed it to scale rapidly through efficient bulk purchasing and simplified store operations.

While the brand is Dutch and its design and distribution operations remain centered in the Netherlands, manufacturing is outsourced to a global network of contract manufacturers. A significant portion of its production takes place in Asian countries, including China, Bangladesh, and India, to maintain its low-price point while adhering to international labor standards through partnerships with organizations like the Fair Wear Foundation.

Today, Zeeman remains a private family-owned business, with the Zeeman family retaining 100% ownership of the shares following the founder's passing in 2020. It operates over 1,300 stores across several European countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Luxembourg, Austria, Spain, and Portugal.
