Founded in 1926 by the Filippou family in Athens, Greece, the brand began as a small dairy shop. Over the decades, it evolved from a local favorite into an international powerhouse, credited with sparking the Greek yogurt trend in the United States and across Europe during the late 20th century.

Today, the brand remains under the private ownership of the Filippou family through FAGE International S.A. While its roots are deeply Greek, the company moved its corporate headquarters to Strassen, Luxembourg, in 2012 to support its global operations. Production is handled across several state-of-the-art facilities; products sold in Europe, including Italy where this specific packaging is from, are primarily manufactured in Greece. However, the company also operates a large-scale plant in Johnstown, New York, for the North American market and has expanded its European manufacturing footprint with a new facility in the Netherlands.
