Fyffes is one of the world's most historic and recognizable fruit brands, particularly famous for being the first fruit company to apply labels to its produce in 1929. The brand was founded in London in 1888 by Edward Wathen Fyffe, who was inspired by the quality of bananas he discovered in the Canary Islands. Over more than a century, the company grew from a local importer into a global fresh produce powerhouse.

While the brand has British and Irish roots, its products are grown in tropical regions suitable for cultivation. These specific organic bananas are sourced from Colombia, where Fyffes maintains long-standing partnerships with local growers to meet international bio-certification standards. The hummingbird featured on the organic label symbolises the brand's commitment to biodiversity and environmental harmony.

Ownership of the brand has shifted over time. After being an Irish-owned public company for many decades under the McCann family's leadership, Fyffes was acquired in 2017 by the Japanese conglomerate Sumitomo Corporation. Today, the brand operates as a private subsidiary of Sumitomo, with its global headquarters located in Geneva, Switzerland, while maintaining strong distribution networks across Europe and North America.
