Pedon is a prominent Italian company specializing in the production and distribution of cereals, legumes, and seeds for various retail brands.

The Despar brand (often stylized as SPAR internationally) has its origins in the Netherlands, where it was founded in 1932 by Adriaan van Well as a voluntary retail chain. Today, the brand is managed globally by SPAR International, headquartered in Amsterdam. In Italy, the brand operates through Despar Italia, a consortium of wholesalers and retailers that manages the license. Ownership of the SPAR brand globally remains with SPAR International B.V., which acts as the ultimate owner and franchisor for the network across 48 countries.
