Pringles is an iconic American brand of stackable, potato-based snack chips known for its unique hyperbolic paraboloid shape and cylindrical canister. The brand was originally created by Procter & Gamble (P&G) in 1968 after chemist Fredric Baur spent years developing the product and its packaging to prevent the common issue of broken and greasy chips in bags.
In 2012, P&G sold the brand to the Kellogg Company (now Kellanova), making it one of the largest snack brands globally. In 2024, Mars, Incorporated announced its acquisition of Kellanova, which includes the Pringles brand, positioning Mars as the ultimate owner from late 2024 onwards.
While the brand originated in the United States, Pringles are manufactured at several facilities worldwide to meet global demand. For the European market, production is primarily centered in Mechelen, Belgium, and Kutno, Poland, though other global facilities include locations in the U.S., Malaysia, and China.
