JBL is a legendary American audio brand founded in 1946 by James Bullough Lansing, a pioneer in loudspeaker design. While the brand has deep roots in Los Angeles, California, its modern consumer electronics, such as the PartyBox 110, are primarily manufactured in China to leverage global supply chain efficiencies.
Ownership of JBL has shifted over decades. In 1969, the brand was acquired by Harman International Industries. In 2017, Samsung Electronics completed its acquisition of Harman International, making the South Korean conglomerate the ultimate parent company. Despite this ownership, JBL continues to operate as an American brand under the Harman umbrella, maintaining its focus on high-performance audio for both professional and home markets. In Denmark and other European markets, the brand is distributed through Harman's regional subsidiaries.
