Yoto is a specialized interactive audio platform for children, best known for its screen-free Yoto Player and Yoto Mini devices. Founded in 2015 by Ben Drury and Filip Denker, the brand was inspired by Montessori educational principles, aiming to reduce screen time while fostering independent play. The product works by inserting physical NFC cards into the device to trigger high-quality audio content such as stories, music, and educational games.
While the first-generation units were produced in Sheffield, UK, current mass production of Yoto's electronic hardware is primarily located in China to meet global demand. Yoto Limited remains a privately held company headquartered in London. It has secured significant investment from various venture capital firms, including Burda Principal Investments and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, but continues to operate under its original founding company and brand identity as of 2026.
