Malibu Coconut Rum liqueur

Malibu is a world-renowned coconut-flavored liqueur made with white rum, famous for its iconic white bottle and Caribbean heritage. Originally launched in 1978 under the name 'Coco Rico', it was rebranded as Malibu in 1980 to simplify the preparation of Piña Coladas. The brand was developed by Tom Jago of International Distillers & Vintners in England, though its spirit and early production were deeply rooted in the West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados.

Today, while the Caribbean remains central to the brand's identity, the manufacturing process has expanded globally to ensure efficient distribution. The product is primarily blended and produced in Canada, with additional production facilities located in the United States and Spain. Since 2005, Malibu has been a key part of the Pernod Ricard portfolio, managed under The Absolut Company. It continues to be a staple in summer-themed cocktails and is sold in over 150 countries worldwide.
