TRESemmé is a globally recognized hair care brand with roots dating back to 1947. It was founded by Edna L. Emme at the Godefroy Manufacturing Company in Manhattan, New York. Originally developed for use in high-end beauty salons, the brand was named as a play on the French term 'très-aimé' (well-loved) and the founder's surname.

In 1968, the brand was acquired by Alberto-Culver, which expanded its distribution from salons to mass-market retailers. In 2010, the multinational consumer goods giant Unilever acquired Alberto-Culver, bringing TRESemmé into its extensive portfolio of beauty and personal care brands. Today, TRESemmé products are manufactured in various locations worldwide to meet regional demands. For European markets, including Spain, production often takes place in Unilever's regional manufacturing hubs, though global supply chains mean components or finished products may originate from multiple countries.
