Ben's Original (formerly Uncle Ben's)

Ben's Original, widely known by its former name Uncle Ben's, is a global leader in the rice industry. The brand's history dates back to the early 1940s when Forrest Mars Sr. partnered with Erich Huzenlaub to utilize a patented parboiling process that retained vitamins in rice. This led to the creation of Converted Rice, Inc., which later became the Uncle Ben's brand. In 2020, the brand underwent a significant transformation and was renamed Ben's Original to remove racial stereotypes associated with its previous name and imagery.

Today, the brand is owned by Mars, Incorporated, a major American multinational manufacturer. While its roots are firmly in the United States, specifically Houston, Texas, its production is highly decentralized. Significant manufacturing facilities are located in Greenville, Mississippi, as well as in various international locations including Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands to serve local markets worldwide.
