Price's Candles, founded in 1830 by William Wilson and Benjamin Lancaster in Battersea, London, is one of the world's most historic candle brands. Originally established as Edward Price and Co., the company revolutionized the industry by discovering how to manufacture cleaner-burning 'composite' candles using coconut oil and palm oil instead of smelly tallow. This innovation earned them a Royal Warrant in 1850, a prestigious status they still maintain today, supplying candles for British royal weddings, coronations, and state occasions.
Throughout the 20th century, the company underwent significant changes in ownership, passing through the hands of major corporations like Lever Brothers (Unilever), Shell, and BP. After filing for administration in 2001, the brand was acquired by Italian interests. It is currently owned by the Italian wax manufacturing giant SER Wax Industry (S.E.R. SpA), led by the Ambroggio family. While the brand remains headquartered in Bedford, UK, for sales and distribution, the bulk of its manufacturing was relocated to SER's primary production facilities near Turin, Italy, to leverage their advanced industrial wax chemistry expertise.
