Bold is a well-established laundry detergent brand with a history spanning several decades. Originally launched in the United States in 1965 by Procter & Gamble (P&G), it gained significant traction in the United Kingdom following its 1974 introduction. It became particularly famous in 1982 for pioneering the '2-in-1' category, which integrated fabric softener directly into the detergent formula. While the brand was eventually discontinued in its home US market around 2014, it remains a household staple across Europe, particularly in the UK and Ireland.
Today, Bold is owned and managed by the American multinational consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble. The product is manufactured in various locations globally to serve its different regional markets; for instance, European stock is often produced in facilities in France or the UK, while other versions have historically been produced in North American sites like Toronto. The Lavender & Camomile variant is one of its most popular scent profiles, frequently featuring P&G's proprietary Lenor freshness technology.
