Specifically, it flows from the Dolomite depths of Mount Grona in the municipality of Plesio, near Menaggio. The water is bottled directly at the source, a location that has been historically celebrated as one of the most panoramic bottling plants in Europe.

The brand has a rich history dating back to the late 19th century when the spring's therapeutic qualities were first certified. Industrial bottling began in 1964, led by the Giugno family. Today, the brand remains under the stewardship of the original founding family through their company, Acque Minerali Val Menaggio S.r.l.
