Munich is a renowned Spanish footwear and fashion brand, easily recognizable by its iconic 'X' logo. Founded in 1939 by Lluís Berneda in Sant Boi de Llobregat, near Barcelona, the company began as a family-run workshop under the name Berneda. It initially specialized in technical footwear for sports like rugby, futsal, and handball. In 1964, the brand adopted the name 'Munich' and introduced its signature 'X' design, which originally served a functional purpose to hide the stitching of the shoe's panels.

Over the decades, Munich evolved from a technical sports brand into a global fashion icon, particularly after expanding into the streetwear market in the late 1990s. While the brand maintains a significant production presence in Spain to uphold its heritage of craftsmanship, it also utilizes international manufacturing facilities to meet global demand. Today, the brand remains a family-owned enterprise, managed by the third generation of the Berneda family through the holding company Bern2Run.
