BIC is a globally recognized French brand founded in 1945 by Marcel Bich and Édouard Buffard. Originally established as a manufacturer of fountain pen parts in Clichy, France, the company revolutionized the market with the introduction of the BIC Cristal ballpoint pen in 1950. This success was followed by the launch of the iconic disposable lighter in 1973 and the disposable razor in 1975.

Today, BIC operates a vast global manufacturing network with over 25 factories worldwide. Major production hubs for lighters include France, Spain, the United States, and Brazil, while writing instruments and razors are produced in facilities across Europe, North America, Brazil, and India (through BIC Cello). The company remains a publicly traded entity on the Euronext Paris, though the founding Bich family retains significant control through voting rights and capital ownership, ensuring a consistent strategic vision for the brand.
