Pringles is a globally recognized brand of stackable potato-based chips, originally invented by the American multinational Procter & Gamble (P&G) in 1968. The product was famously designed by chemist Fredric Baur, who created the unique hyperbolic paraboloid (saddle) shape and the iconic tubular canister to prevent chips from breaking and to keep them fresh. The brand's mascot, Julius Pringles, has become a staple of global snack culture.
In 2012, the brand was sold to the Kellogg Company (now Kellanova), which significantly expanded its international presence. As of late 2025 and into 2026, the brand has transitioned to new ownership following the landmark $36 billion acquisition of Kellanova by Mars, Incorporated. This merger consolidated Pringles into the Mars Snacking division alongside other global giants like M&M'S and Snickers.
Manufacturing of Pringles takes place in several strategic locations worldwide to serve different markets. Major production facilities are located in Jackson, Tennessee (USA), Mechelen (Belgium), Kutno (Poland), Johor (Malaysia), and Fujian (China). For the European market, most products are manufactured in the Belgium and Poland plants.
