Microsoft Azure

Microsoft Azure is a comprehensive cloud computing platform that provides a wide array of services including computing, analytics, storage, and networking. Originally announced in 2008 under the internal codename 'Project Red Dog' and officially launched in 2010 as Windows Azure, it was later rebranded to Microsoft Azure in 2014 to reflect its support for non-Windows technologies and open-source software.

As a global cloud provider, Azure does not have a single manufacturing location. Instead, it operates through a vast network of over 200 physical data centers located in more than 70 regions around the world. These data centers house the hardware required to run its Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings.

Ownership of the brand remains strictly with Microsoft Corporation, its original developer. Microsoft has transitioned from a traditional software vendor to a 'cloud-first' company, with Azure serving as the backbone for nearly all of its modern enterprise services and consumer products.
