Midas is a prestigious name in the professional audio industry, specifically renowned for its high-end mixing consoles used in live sound and concert touring. Founded in 1970 in London by Jeff Byers and Charles Brooke, the brand quickly became an industry standard, known for the 'Midas sound' produced by its high-quality preamplifiers and equalization circuits. Legendary analog models like the XL3, XL4, and the Heritage series defined the sound of global tours for decades.

Over the years, the brand transitioned through several owners. It was acquired by Klark Teknik in 1987, which later became part of the Telex Communications Group. In 2006, Telex was acquired by the Bosch Group. However, the most significant shift occurred in December 2009, when Midas and Klark Teknik were acquired by Music Tribe (formerly known as Music Group), the holding company founded by Uli Behringer. This acquisition led to a shift in manufacturing strategy; while research and development remain centered in a 'Centre of Excellence' in Manchester, UK, large-scale production was moved to the massive 'Music Tribe City' manufacturing hub in Zhongshan, China.

Today, Midas continues to lead the market with digital innovations such as the M32 series and the Heritage-D. As of 2026, the brand remains a core pillar of Music Tribe's portfolio, maintaining its reputation for sonic excellence while benefiting from the global manufacturing scale of its parent company.
