Soundcraft is a prestigious British brand that has been a cornerstone of the professional audio industry since its founding in 1973. It was established by sound engineer Phil Dudderidge and electronics designer Graham Blyth, who revolutionized the market with the Series 1, the first mixing console built into a flight case. This innovation cemented the brand's reputation for the 'British Sound' and made it a staple in live sound, recording, and broadcast environments worldwide.
Originally manufacturing its high-end desks in the United Kingdom, Soundcraft's production has evolved over the decades. Today, while high-level design and engineering still maintain British roots, physical manufacturing takes place in multiple locations globally, particularly in China and other Asian hubs, to meet international demand for both analog and digital consoles.
In terms of ownership, Soundcraft was acquired by Harman International Industries in 1988. In 2017, Harman was itself acquired by the South Korean electronics giant Samsung Electronics. As of 2026, Soundcraft remains a key brand within the HARMAN Professional Solutions division, operating under the ultimate ownership of Samsung, which utilizes the brand's expertise to bolster its extensive portfolio of professional and automotive audio technologies.
