Patties is a cornerstone of the Australian frozen food industry, tracing its history back to 1966 when Peter and Annie Rijs opened a small cake shop in Lakes Entrance, Victoria. Over the decades, the business evolved from a local bakery into a massive manufacturing operation, establishing its main production facility in Bairnsdale, Victoria. Today, Patties Food Group is recognized as the world's largest producer of meat pies and a leading supplier of frozen savoury and dessert products.

While the company remains deeply rooted in Australian manufacturing, its ownership has transitioned through several private and public phases. After being listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2006, it was taken private by Pacific Equity Partners in 2016. In late 2022, the brand entered a new chapter when it was acquired by PAG, a prominent Asia-Pacific investment firm. This acquisition has helped Patties expand its reach beyond Australia and New Zealand into international markets like the USA and Japan, while maintaining its core production hub in regional Victoria.
