The brand is renowned for its high-quality ground coffee, beans, and machines, particularly its vacuum-packed tin cans which preserve freshness. It pioneered the 'Fair Trade' movement in coffee production, notably through its 'Les Petits Producteurs' (Small Producers) line, which supports small-scale farming cooperatives.

The product is roasted and packaged in France, specifically at the company's roasting facility in Carros, near Nice. While the coffee beans themselves are sourced globally from regions like South America and Africa, the branding, processing, and company headquarters remain firmly rooted in French heritage. The company is currently owned by the Rombouts family, following a merger with the Belgian coffee specialist Rombouts in the late 1960s, creating a powerful European coffee group.
