Chivers is a historic brand synonymous with traditional British fruit spreads, specifically marmalade and jam. It was originally founded in 1873 by the Chivers family in Histon, Cambridge, England. The brand gained fame for its pioneering methods, including being one of the first to use commercial canning and the first to introduce 'Olde English' marmalade, characterized by its inclusion of thick-cut orange peel.

Today, the manufacturing for the European market, including the product shown, takes place primarily in Ireland following the acquisition of the brand by Boyne Valley Group. While it retains its heritage branding referencing Cambridge, ownership has shifted significantly over the years. After being a part of various conglomerates like Cadbury Schweppes and Premier Foods, the brand was sold to the Boyne Valley Group, which now oversees its production and distribution globally. This ensures that while the recipes remain rooted in British history, the modern supply chain is centered in Ireland.
