Starbucks is a global leader in the roasting, marketing, and retailing of specialty coffee. Founded in 1971 in Seattle, Washington, the brand initially operated as a single storefront at Pike Place Market selling high-quality coffee beans and equipment. Throughout the decades, it evolved into the world's largest coffeehouse chain, eventually expanding into consumer packaged goods including ground coffee, capsules, and ready-to-drink beverages.
While Starbucks manages its own retail locations, its consumer products are often manufactured and distributed through strategic global partnerships. Most notably, the Global Coffee Alliance between Starbucks and Nestlé allows Nestlé to distribute Starbucks-branded consumer products globally in grocery and retail channels. Ready-to-drink beverages are frequently produced via joint ventures, such as the North American Coffee Partnership with PepsiCo. Manufacturing occurs in numerous facilities across the United States, Europe, and Asia to serve local market demands.
