Doliprane is France's most iconic brand of paracetamol, used widely for pain relief and fever reduction, particularly for children. Originally developed in France, it has become a staple in French pharmacies and households.
While famously produced for decades by the French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi, most notably at its Lisieux site in Normandy, the brand's ownership is currently in a significant transition period. In late 2024, Sanofi entered into exclusive negotiations with the American investment firm CD&R (Clayton, Dubilier & Rice) to sell a 50% controlling stake in Opella, the consumer healthcare unit that manages Doliprane. This move is part of Sanofi's strategy to focus more on innovative biopharmaceuticals and vaccines while maintaining a minority stake in the consumer business alongside the French state investment bank, Bpifrance.
