Delacre is a prestigious biscuit brand with a heritage dating back to 1870. Founded by Charles Delacre, who initially worked as a pharmacist in Brussels before transitioning into chocolate and biscuit making, the brand became famous for integrating high-quality chocolate with French-style pastry techniques. It has long held the honor of being a supplier to the Belgian Royal Household.
Today, the brand maintains its production roots in the region, operating two main factories located in Nieppe, France, and Lambermont, Belgium. These facilities continue to produce iconic items like the 'Marquisette' and 'Biarrittz' using traditional recipes that have remained popular for over a century.
In terms of ownership, Delacre has undergone significant changes. Originally a family-owned Belgian business, it was acquired by United Biscuits (the makers of McVitie's) in 1998. In 2016, following the acquisition of United Biscuits by Yildiz Holding, the Delacre brand was sold to an affiliated entity of the Ferrero Group. Since then, it has been part of Ferrero's international portfolio of high-end biscuit and confectionery brands.
