Saila is a historic Italian brand established in 1937 in Silvi Marina, Abruzzo, by Angelo Barabba and Aurelio Menozzi. The company name is an acronym for 'Società Anonima Industriale Liquirizia Abruzzese'. It quickly became renowned for its high-quality pure liquorice and mint products, utilizing traditional processing methods.

Over the decades, the brand underwent several changes in ownership. It was acquired by the Dutch-Italian conglomerate Cloetta (formerly Leaf) and later integrated into the portfolios of international confectionery giants. As of the current period, Saila remains a prominent brand under the ownership of Sperlari S.r.l., which is owned by the German group Katjes International. Production continues to be focused in the historic Abruzzo region, maintaining its 'Fatto in Italia' heritage.
