While IKEA is a Swedish brand, its manufacturing is highly globalized. Most glassware is produced through a network of suppliers in countries with long-standing traditions in glass manufacturing, such as Bulgaria, Russia, China, France, and Turkey. This allows the company to maintain high production volumes while keeping costs low.

Ownership of the IKEA brand is complex. The brand is managed by Inter IKEA Systems B.V., based in the Netherlands, which owns the intellectual property. However, the operational retail arm is predominantly controlled by the Ingka Group. This structure was designed to ensure long-term independence and the continuity of the IKEA concept beyond the life of its founder, Ingvar Kamprad.
