Campina dairy products

Campina is a historic dairy brand that originated in the Netherlands. Its roots go back to the 19th century, specifically to the first dairy cooperative created in Tungelroy in 1892. The brand name 'Campina' was officially launched in 1947 by the De Kempen Cooperatives Dairy Association based in Eindhoven. Over the decades, localized village cooperatives merged into larger regional entities, leading to the formation of the modern Campina through a merger between Melkunie Holland and DMV Campina in 1989.

In December 2008, the brand underwent a significant transformation when Campina merged with Royal Friesland Foods to form Royal FrieslandCampina N.V., which is today one of the world's largest dairy cooperatives. While the brand is quintessentially Dutch and much of its fresh milk is sourced from family farms in the Netherlands, manufacturing takes place in multiple countries including Germany, Belgium, and various locations across Asia and Africa to serve local markets.

Today, the brand is owned by the Zuivelcoöperatie FrieslandCampina U.A., a cooperative owned by nearly 17,000 member farmers across the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium. This unique ownership structure means that the dairy farmers themselves are the ultimate owners and decision-makers of the company.
