Blaupunkt Electronics

Blaupunkt is a historic German brand with a legacy dating back to its founding as 'Ideal' in Berlin in 1924. Originally a manufacturer of headphones and radios, the company became famous for the 'blue dot' (Blaupunkt in German) quality seal applied to its products, which eventually became the official brand name in 1938. For decades, it was a prominent subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH, pioneering innovations such as the first car radio in Europe.

Following corporate restructuring and the eventual bankruptcy of the original manufacturing entity in 2015-2016, Blaupunkt transitioned from a direct manufacturer into a managed brand licensing model. In mid-2023, the brand was acquired by Established.inc (a U.S.-based company) from GIP Development SARL of Luxembourg. Today, Blaupunkt functions as a global brand community where various specialized licensees develop and manufacture products under the Blaupunkt name.

Because of this licensing model, manufacturing occurs in multiple countries depending on the product category and region. Major manufacturing hubs include China for general audio and electronics, and India (via Super Plastronics Pvt Ltd) for smart televisions and audio products intended for the Indian and global markets. Other regional licensing partners may manufacture in locations such as Poland, Turkey, and Egypt.
