Nordsø Bitter is a classic Danish bitter liqueur, originally inspired by the North Sea and the oil industry, which is reflected in its iconic label featuring oil rigs. It was created in the 1980s by the Danish distiller Spritfabrikken Danmark, which is based in Kolding.
The recipe is known for its distinct licorice flavor combined with various herbs and spices. In 2024, Spritfabrikken Danmark was acquired by the Dutch spirits group Royal Dirkzwager (now part of the larger spirits conglomerate ownership), ensuring the brand remains under a specialized European beverage portfolio while maintaining its strong Danish identity and local production in Jutland.
