Jaka Forloren Skildpadde

Jaka Forloren Skildpadde is a classic Danish canned meat stew, traditionally known as 'mock turtle soup'. Despite its name, it contains no turtle meat, but is made with small meatballs and fishballs in a rich, dark sauce. The brand Jaka has its roots deep in the Danish food industry, having been founded in Brabrand near Aarhus in 1954.

While the original Jaka factory in Brabrand closed years ago, the brand name and the specific production recipes were acquired by Tulip Food Company, which is now part of the Danish Crown Group. Today, the product is primarily manufactured in Denmark at specialized facilities under Danish Crown. It remains a nostalgic staple in Danish kitchens, valued for its historical connection to Danish industrial food production and its status as a quick, traditional meal.
