JOZO is one of the most established salt brands in Europe, with a heritage dating back to 1929 when it was launched by the Royal Dutch Salt Industry (KNZ). The brand name is derived from 'JO-dium' (Iodine) and 'ZO-ut' (Salt), highlighting its pioneering role in adding iodine to table salt to improve public health.
Today, the JOZO brand is owned and produced by Nouryon (formerly AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals), specifically within its Salins group or industrial salt division. The salt is primarily sourced and manufactured in the Netherlands, specifically from deep underground vacuum salt deposits in regions like Hengelo. This ensures a high-purity product that is distributed extensively across Scandinavia and Western Europe.
