The Morrisons brand originated in Bradford, West Yorkshire, in 1899 when William Morrison started a stall selling butter and eggs. Over more than a century, it evolved into a major retail powerhouse. Following a significant acquisition in 2021, the company transitioned from being a publicly traded PLC to a privately held entity under the ownership of Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R), an American private equity firm.
