Nivea is one of the world's most recognized skin care brands, originally founded in Germany. The brand's journey began in 1911 when the pharmacist and visionary entrepreneur Dr. Oscar Troplowitz, working with chemist Dr. Isaac Lifschütz and dermatologist Professor Paul Gerson Unna, developed the first stable water-in-oil skin cream. This innovation was named NIVEA, derived from the Latin word 'niveus', meaning 'snow-white'.
Today, Nivea products are manufactured globally to meet regional market demands, with significant production facilities located in Germany, Thailand, Mexico, and Poland. Despite its international reach, the brand maintains its core identity and headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, under the leadership of its parent company, Beiersdorf AG. The brand has expanded from its original cream to a wide range of personal care items, including the lip care product shown in the image.
