Dolce Carbone is a traditional Italian sweet, often associated with the Epiphany holiday, produced by the renowned confectionery company Sperlari. The product is essentially 'sweet coal,' a crunchy sugar-based candy that mimics the appearance of coal.
Starting from its historic roots in Cremona, Italy, where Enea Sperlari founded the company in 1836, the brand has remained an icon of Italian candy making. Over the decades, ownership has transitioned through various international groups, including Heinz and Leaf. However, in 2017, the brand returned to majority European stewardship when it was acquired by the Katjes International group. Most production for Sperlari's core confectionery lines continues to take place in Italy, preserving its heritage and local manufacturing expertise.
