Wonka

The Wonka brand is one of the most iconic names in popular culture, finding its roots in Roald Dahl's classic children's book, 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.' Originally, the brand name was used as a promotional tool for the 1971 film adaptation. It later grew into a full-scale candy empire under various corporate owners.

Starting with Quaker Oats and then moving to Sunmark, the brand was eventually acquired by the Swiss food giant Nestlé. For decades, Nestlé produced famous Wonka-branded products like the Wonka Bar, Nerds, Laffy Taffy, and Runts. However, in 2018, as Nestlé shifted its focus toward healthier food options, it sold its entire United States confectionery business to Ferrero.

Today, the brand's legacy is split. While Ferrero owns many of the classic candy formulations (often rebranded under the 'Ferrero' or 'Ferrara' name), the 'Wonka' trademark itself is closely tied to the media franchise owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. Production of these candies occurs in various global facilities, primarily in the United States, Mexico, and Italy, depending on the specific product line.
