Today, Bacardí is primarily produced in large-scale distilleries in Puerto Rico (Cataño) and Mexico, which serve the global market. The Cataño distillery is the largest premium rum distillery in the world and is often referred to as the 'Cathedral of Rum'.

Bacardí Limited remains a family-owned company, making it one of the largest privately held, family-owned spirits companies in the world. After the Cuban Revolution, the family moved operations entirely out of Cuba and eventually established their headquarters in Bermuda, where they continue to manage a massive portfolio of spirits brands beyond just their namesake rum.
