Titleist is the leading name in the golf industry, world-renowned for its high-performance golf equipment, particularly its golf balls which have been the most played on professional tours for decades. The brand was born out of a desire for precision and quality; it was founded in 1932 by Phil Young, who, after missing a putt due to an off-center core in his golf ball, decided to develop a line of golf balls that were X-rayed for consistency.

Today, Titleist is owned by Acushnet Holdings Corp., which also manages other major golf brands like FootJoy and Scotty Cameron. While the brand has deep American roots, its manufacturing operations are global to meet international demand. The majority of its premium golf balls are produced in Ball Plant 3 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, while other specialized facilities are located in Thailand to serve the global market.

In 2011, a consortium led by Fila Korea Ltd. and Mirae Asset Private Equity acquired Acushnet from Fortune Brands. As of 2024 and beyond, Acushnet Holdings Corp. remains a publicly traded company on the NYSE, with Fila Holdings Corp. (based in Seoul, South Korea) maintaining a majority stake in the company, representing a significant shift in the brand's ultimate ownership to South Korea.
