Kent Cigarettes

Kent is a renowned American brand of cigarettes, first introduced in 1952 by the Lorillard Tobacco Company. Historically significant as the first brand to introduce a filter to the cigarette market (the famous Micronite filter), it gained rapid popularity during the filtration movement of the mid-20th century.

Today, the manufacturing of Kent products is decentralized and takes place in various countries across the globe to serve local markets, including facilities in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. While its origins are deeply rooted in the United States, its production is now managed by multinational entities that operate specialized tobacco manufacturing plants globally.

The brand's ownership has transitioned over the years. Outside of the United States, Kent is owned and manufactured by British American Tobacco (BAT), one of the world's largest tobacco companies headquartered in London. Inside the United States, the brand remains under the portfolio of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, which is also a subsidiary of British American Tobacco following a major acquisition in 2017. This makes BAT the ultimate global owner of the brand name.
