Founded by Klaas Tiktak in Groningen, the company originally began as a small grocery business before specializing in high-quality coffee roasting and tea blending. For over a century, the brand became a staple in the Dutch market, known for its traditional roasting methods.

Today, Tiktak is part of a larger international portfolio but maintains its Dutch heritage. The brand was acquired by the Italian coffee giant Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group. While the brand honors its 1870 origins, the manufacturing and distribution are integrated into the global supply chain of its parent company, primarily utilizing production facilities in the Netherlands to serve the European market.
