Alpro is a pioneering brand in the plant-based food industry, originally founded in Belgium in 1980 as a subsidiary of the Vandemoortele Group. It quickly became a market leader in Europe for soy-based products and has since expanded into almond, oat, and coconut alternatives.

In 2017, Alpro became part of the French multinational Danone following Danone's acquisition of the American company WhiteWave Foods. This acquisition strategically positioned Alpro within Danone's 'Essential Dairy and Plant-Based' division. Today, the products are manufactured in several European facilities, with major plants located in Wevelgem (Belgium), Issenheim (France), and Kettering (UK), ensuring supply across the continent and beyond.
